I recently got an article from our very own Blegoo, who wanted to see his thoughts published and critiqued around here. It required serious formatting, but I thought it’s a free service I can provide to the second highest commenter (in terms of quantity) on this blog. My comments will be highlighted inline and concentrated at the end. 

It’s been a while since we haven’t talked about poverty in Romania and solutions. A recent “debate” caused by an over-the-top article on not giving money to the poor gives us a chance to look at it again and also address our reticence with BDSM practices.

Never have I hesitated to make my views on Romanian immigration known. I think that most people leaving the country for good are better off living in Ro (though European tourism needs to expand, especially among college students, who also have Erasmus to take advantage of). That is why I’m conflicted about “Maria’s Manifesto”, a rather incongruent and emotional appeal to “patriotism”.

I suspect there is a 'TestVote' application for each member country of the EU. I decided to follow my own recommendation from Romanian MEP elections in Toronto and go through this, just before voting. Since there is very likely an English one in existence, and the English vote has already concluded, this article has the questions left in original, in Romanian.

Situatia invatamantului romanesc este precara nu numai la nivel european. Chiar si in sisteme mai functionale insa exista indivizi care se caznesc sa le imbunatateasca. Spre deosebire de romani, unii considera ca secretul unui sistem de invatamant de succes este cat mai mult timp petrecut (cu folos) in scoala.

The stuff I haven't told you yet about Anaughtia (see previous and still unfinished, at this time, article) is on my mind, fighting its way into a sequel. But it will be a while. One thing about population in Romania that we can all agree on is that it is in free fall. A recent article has revealed to me that, supposedly, the number of Romanians moving out of the city and into the country side is greater than the number of Romanians moving into the city.

A recent “viral” video clip shows the Romanian president, Klaus Iohannis, moving the Union Jack (the UK flag), out of the way as he talks to reporters. This act of “elimination” is probably the least interesting of the ones discussed herein.

Am aflat recent ca exista o miscare a romilor pentru formarea unui stat rom, “Romanistan”. Habar n-am daca este chiar un “movimiento”, ideea creata a unui singur om sau o gluma, dar merita discutat.

Ministrul Justitiei are un raspuns balansat si inteligent.

M-a deranjat intotdeauna rasismul la romani si argumentele gen "hai sa-i belim pe tigani, ca si altii au facut la fel". Povesteam anul trecut cat m-am bucurat sa dau bani cu imprumut prin Kiva unei antreprenoare basarabence si alteia libaneze prin contul meu de Kiva. Mi-am atintit ochiul catre America de Sud, unde iar am dat niste bani cu-mprumut.

In Vest, reclamele de tigari pentru femei sunt poveste veche, inceputa pe la sfarsitul anilor ‘60 de catre Philip Morris cu reclama pentru Virginia Slims: you’ve come a long way, baby, reclama care impletea produsul respectiv cu emanciparea femeii si feminismul acelor vremuri (vezi clipurile din surse si din partea I).

A relatively recent tragic murder and Munchausen by proxy case is a pretext to look at how Romani / Gypsy / Roma people are perceived, the guilt of their children and mob mentality.

I’m not a nationalist and though I wish my Romanian friends “La Multi Ani” for our national holiday, a small part of me is uneasy, because nationalism means association with people who share your ethnic background, some good, some bad, but in our case (and, of course, excepting those I know personally), mostly bad.
