This is a question often asked and the answer given is seldom informed and non-partisan. I stumbled upon such a conversation and started talking about Netherlands first, so here I continue on my attempt to make sense of it.

A murit recent un judecator al Curtii Constitutionale. Nu cred ca stirea asta va starni valuri, dar pentru mine este un prilej de a arunca o privire mai lunga asupra institutiei pe care am numit-o, cu amaraciune, Curtea Constipationala.

A few weeks ago we celebrated 30 years (10x3 years, man!). A lot of documentaries and retrospectives and I hardly kept up with them. Today I met another European woman. Originally from Spain, she told me she worked in the Czech Republic for a while as a translator. Upon learning I'm Romanian, she also felt the need to share with me that there were "a lot of Romanians" in the Czech Republic who wanted to come to Canada but couldn't, because there is no visa treaty. When I told her that there were some problems here with Czech Roma getting visa through fraud and the visa had been suspended, her reaction was to remove her Czech work experience from her resume, out of fear that “Czechs now had a bad name.”

I am EXTATIC!!!! N-am auzit de ea inainte sa fi castigat premiul Nobel, cum n-auzisem nici de francezul care a castigat in 2008, dar cu cat citesc mai mult, cu atat ma excit mai tare! E musai s-mpartasesc ce aflu cu cei 2-3 oameni care ma citesc, poate iau si eu un Hertzer sau un BlogIdol. Voi incepe sa scriu acest ghid prin a face mai mult spatiu sub birou.

Tocmai a fost dat publicitatii un studiu facut pe orfanii din Romania. Vad ca nimeni n-as scris despre asta, asa ca ma grabesc s-o fac eu.

Ca parte din diaspora si totusi interesat de ce ce intampla in tara, "online"-ul ocupa o pondere mult mai mare in sursele mele de informatie despre Romania - este, de fapt, aproape singura.
