I'll be writing this article in both English and Romanian. Partea engleza va avea de-a face cu diferentele dintre romani si tigani, cea in romana cu inutilitatea acestei "lupte". Both domains affected do not presently resolve.

My resolve to stop speaking about the difference between Roma / Gypsies and Romanians was recently shaken by an Irish couple, one of whom had a Roma sister adopted from Romania.

There's been a lot of hoopla about horses and Romania lately. Let's summarize it.

While I am naturally a bit upset by the multiple levels of irony in this story, I have to admit I'm also quite irritated and disappointed. A relatively recent tragic murder and Munchausen by proxy case is a pretext to look at how Romani / Gypsy / Roma people are perceived, the guilt of their children and mob mentality.

Today [or, more precisely, a few months ago when I re-started this article] I’ve seen the first real professionally done Romanian TV news segment on Roma. It seems to belong to Carmen Avram, Antena 3 undeva-n Ardeal.
