BreakYourHeart Exista putina cantece de care m-am indragostit la prima auzire. St Etienne's cover of Neil Young te-nvaluie si te-ameteste, daca-i dai voie si ai chef de d-astea.

N-as putea spune ca-mi place Neil Young. Cand l-am ascultat prima data, mi  s-a parut ca-i un balon caruia ii trebuie 5-10 minute sa se fasaie, si la sfarsit miroase a talc. Am ascultat mai apoi coverul lui St. Etienne, Only Love Can Break Your Heart si m-a sedus total.

Cineva mi-a zis ca daca ar fi sa am un superhero theme song, this would be it. M-am simtit jignit. Nu sunt ghei sau fomeie!, am protestat. Esti sigur? m-a-ntrebat. Mi-a venit sa-i dau un dupac si sa-ntreb “doare?”, dar n-am facut-o. Sunt un om pacifist.

Ce-mi place in cover-ul St Etienne – si in special in remix-urile bazate pe aceasta versiune - este ca insufla vlaga si energia care lipsesc variantei originale. Chiar daca-i canadian, chiar daca este cunoscut ca fiind parintele grunge-ului, chiar daca s-a jucat cu o tona de stiluri, nu ma atrage. Imi place totusi ca melodiile lui au miez, si ca are taria creatoare de a le dezbraca de aranjamente si de a le reda astfel, minimalist si direct.

Singurul cantec Neil Young care-mi place este Harvest Moon. L-am adaugat la sfarsitul listei, dupa toate celelelalte versiuni Only Love…

Nu, inima nu mi-e franta in acest moment (poate doar sperantele si idealurile de justitie), dar ploua si e-ntuneric afara ziua in amiaza mare.
