Unlike most of my Romanian friends, who are angered by the details of the 112/police (EMS) response to Alexandra Macesanu’s increasingly desperate calls, I am far more upset by police colonel, university professor and forensic psychologist Tudorel Badea Butoi-Severin and the inconsequential censure by CNCD following his deeply offensive, misogynistic, victim-blaming comments. I believe that the hostility and inadequacy of the police response is rooted in the attitude that Prof Butoi has expressed and this bigotry is the root cause of police inaction and incompetence.

I keep reading about Romanian Police incompetence and I can tell you that I’ve seen far worse here in Toronto. I learned about former cop and current “forensic psychologist” Butoi telling us why a living girl’s carbonized remains ended up in a barrel (cf Romanian “butoi”). And beyond all these facts, inadequacies and incompetence, the question we want to answer even though we know we can’t is why?

In the past few days, most of the Romanians I know received two important gifts: PSD didn’t win the elections and Dragnea, its [widely considered] corrupt boss, was sentenced to jail and went there shortly thereafter. Though I’m not a Dragnea/PSD fan, I find the celebrations a bit empty. What bugs me is that only one candidate answered my questions re: #EP2019, and I fear that the vast majority of voters never tried to clarify the programme of the candidates they voted for, nor have they tried to interact with them. Let's try to find reasons.

I try to make sense of who voted for whom in this election, and especially who voted for PNL. Surprisingly for me, PNL managed to attract a majority of women / rural / “unoccupied” voters.

It is only natural for a government representing the most religious people in Europe to implement mercy, this unabashedly Christian concept. I’ve just learned from my former classmates that the amnesty ordinance (which is really an executive order / edict / decree “emanating” from the government and bypassing the legislature) that formed the object of the past week’s protests has been adopted. I have, in the past, dedicated ample space and time to the Romanian elections. Lately, I’m starting to get a feeling of futility. It’s a widespread disease.

Extreme division in the public opinion is not new and is not common only to Romania. What is special about our situation is how ludicrous and paranoid their claims are. In this article commenced long ago, we look at how “tunnel vision” and “excessive focus” ruins politics, and implicitly, electorates who fail to censor the politicians who succumb to it.

Mi-ar fi extrem de greu sa ma impac cu sirul evenimentelor care s-au produs in ultimele cateva saptamani si mai ales zile. Un mod de a impaca realitatea cu dorul de normalitate este refugiul in arta - Commedia dell'Arte, mai precis.

Ma uit la stiri si la reactiile "analistilor" si nu-mi vine sa cred. Oare o incercare de sinucidere = nevinovatie?!

Today [or, more precisely, a few months ago when I re-started this article] I’ve seen the first real professionally done Romanian TV news segment on Roma. It seems to belong to Carmen Avram, Antena 3 undeva-n Ardeal. But rather than describe the atrocious conditions Roma people live in, I’d much rather tell you a small part of my own experience growing up in Bucharest in the 80s.

Continui seria Politia, Puterea, Politica si Prim-ministrul din Ro dar si Politia din Canada cu cel mai gretos individ care mi s-a perindat pe monitor saptamana asta. Reactiile unui "avocat" si modul in care acesta adreseaza politistii in timpul unui simplu control in trafic mi-au reamintit de ce nu ma vad traind Romania si de ce nu-i duc dorul. Mi-a amintit si de necesitatea unui curs cu Anthony Robbins sau alt gurist similar pentru politisti.

Antenele considera ca Udrea ironizeaza pe cei care-o critica. Intre timp, "consiliul national de evaluare a brandului" - de unde-au mai rasarit si astia? - se declara trup si suflet in spatele logo-ului. Iata o colectie a video-clipurilor Antenei – fiind multe si imposibil de strans intr-un playlist, pagina s-ar putea incarca foarte lent.

De prin decembrie pare sa se fi intetit stirile despre RoTLD. Schimbarile vor veni, si probabil nu vor fi in bine.

Stiu ca-i a n-spea oara in ultimele 2-3 luni cand scriu despre moarte, dar articolul asta despre caini otraviti, aparut pe site-ul Antena 3, mi-a atras recent atentia si sper sa iasa scurt.

Cuvantul "Awards" e acolo pentru motorasele de cautare. Restul articolului e pentru tine. De la mine si echipa Darwin, care celebreaza anual pisul blogo.ro-oilor de frunte in piscina, clorinand piscina genetica (Chlorinating the Gene Pool).

Aproape de o luna imi bat creierii si tastatura cu pulitica rumuneasca si votul pres-e-dintelui. Si cand credeam / speram /simteam c-am terminat, vine si alpha(d/bl)og, care ignora cu parsivenie dezbaterea ce-o incepuseram, sa ma invite la un alt raspuns. Eu i-l dau, ca de ce nu?

Am descoperit un film care contine dovezi incontestabile si de nezdruncinat ca voturi au fost aproape vandute si cumparate in diaspora. Nu suntem siguri in acest moment daca filmarea a fost facuta in Toronto, Berceni sau Asia Minor. Cercetarile continua. (LE: Filmul a fost intre timp cenzurat de YouTube.)

Ca dupa fiecare alegere unde miza-i mare, oamenii interesati in rezultat si rezultatul strans, au aparut si vor apare acuzatii de fraudare. Eu nu cunosc exemple concrete, dar aud tot timpul de oameni care cunosc alti oameni care sunt siguri ca fraudarea s-a produs. Si-ncerc sa analizez broblemu'.
