Azi noapte a avut loc un cutremur in apropierea Romei. N-as scrie despre asta, dar am trimis o corespondenta-n Roma. Si chiar daca ea nu-mi trimite corespondente spre publicare, am totusi o responsabilitate legala, duty of care cum se zice.

Am poposit recent pe pagina unui blog negru, prezentand viata in gri prin intermediul unui batran cu tatuaje violete ce se plimba aproape gol, intelept si decorat pe strada. Mi-am amintit de Arclantida si-nceputul sau. Si-apoi am terminat de tradus Halebarda lui Sorescu.

Now that the European results are known and Euroscepticism discussed, after a short detour through Canadian visas for Romanians, we will finally take a look at the Romanian politics.

Today I met another European woman. Originally from Spain, she told me she worked in the Czech Republic for a while as a translator. Upon learning I'm Romanian, she also felt the need to share with me that there were "a lot of Romanians" in the Czech Republic who wanted to come to Canada but couldn't, because there is no visa treaty. When I told her that there were some problems here with Czech Roma getting visa through fraud and the visa had been suspended, her reaction was to remove her Czech work experience from her resume, out of fear that “Czechs now had a bad name.”

A while back, we looked at a map that placed Romania South of Bulgaria, and Bulgaria in Romania’s place, in a kind of “castling” or “rocada” (cf Romanian) of the two countries. A relatively newer map, picked up somewhere on Facebook (fb below in Sources), makes the same “mistake”. Are the quotes around the word mistake warranted?

In trying to answer the map question, it might be a good idea to stat with some Dacian history. Presumably, after Trajan conquered Dacia, the men were massacred or enslaved and the Dacian state including its capital, Sarmizegetusa, obliterated then rebuilt in Roman fashion.

I sporadically come across Dan Alexe's writings. He's a smart dude, he's courageous, and he seems to constantly be bullying "protocronists / dacologists" whom he calls "dacopaths" ("dacopati" cf Romanian original, a term most likely inspired by the derisive and pejorative “psychopaths”). I thought I deconstruct / smite him a bit.

Recent, o noua campanie impotriva discriminarii a luat avant pe tuburi si de data asta a fost oglindita de blogul lui Petreanu. Ocazie cu care au fost articulate argumente cat de cat logice, atat pro cat si contra.

Azi e ziua patriei, dar cum ii spuneam lui Krossfire intr-un comentariu, prefer o zi rationala uneia nationale. Oricum, el explica tare bine cam tot ce-i de explicat, iar eu n-as putea decat sa repet urarea veche. Continui aici discutia emotie vs. logica, inceputa in prima parte cu Colbert si Adeveria.

Ultima parte din "instalatia de PiaR", dupa logo, fronda frunzei si moneda, in acest canicular mijloc de vara se refera la indarjirea demagogica de care Sarko s-a gandit c-ar fi electoral indicat sa dea dovada, si modul oarecum nesabuit dar totodata adorabil in care Base pune paie pe focul xenofob.

Incepusem sa vorbesc in primul articol despre cum vaz eu lucrurile si-n special conjectura l3st. Ici-sha trecem din planul ideatic in parcarea din spatele blocului si cercetam ce e de facut.

In a significant development, the full transcript of the 112 calls by the last victim, Alexandra Măceșanu, has been published. It is unclear to me if these are the official transcripts or rather what some of those who have listened may have remembered or clandestinely recorded. I do not expect that the official transcripts are any different and I am publishing them along with the censured victim-blaming comments made in 2010 by Tudorel Butoi, who continues to provide his “expert opinion” in TV shows.
