Recently, a friend asked me to provide Romanian lessons. I directed her to Duolingo (invite) and, as I occasionally listen to Romanian eTeatru (or “teatru radiofonic”), it occurred to me that this is something worth sharing with the rest of the world.

I struggle to write about my grandma’s passing away, between expressing all I have to say, and staying within the limits of what a reader might find interesting or useful, without falling into too much drama.

Incercarea de a comanda o carte romaneasca de la “librariile onlain” mi-a aprins niste beculete de ciuda si inovatie. As fi vrut sa pot comanda cartea Nelinistitului, dar in format electronic, ori asta nu-i posibil. Voi explica asadar cum vad eu viitorul cartii romanesti si care ar fi modul ideal de a-mi vinde ceea ce vreau sa cumpar.

Zilele astea sarbatorim ziua Romaniei si-i un moment oportun sa sparg sirul de poeti strainezi si sa prezint o poezie romaneasca. Totusi n-o voi da cu poezii patriotice, fiindca feedback gen "bravo" sau "sa ne desteptam" ma lasa rece. Voi prezenta o poezie care-mi place. Si apropo, am urat Romaniei la multi ani in trecut.

Vorbeam recent cu Quebecoisfier despre o dezbatere pe care intentionam s-o purtam cat de curand. Desigur, nu-i prima data cand as incepe asa ceva - am mai avut in trecut pe tema parlamentului unicameral si despre Base. Si m-am gandit c-ar fi cazul sa enunt cateva reguli, cum am facut pentru concursurile generale pentru acest blog si sa dau premii, cum am mai dat.

Am dat-o cu Miorita hindusa, l-am introdus pe Campbell s-ale sale multe fete in lumina reflectorului, a mai ramas sa-i prezentam pe cei ramasi in umbra, care-au lucrat intr-una pe tacute dar n-au ajuns niciodata asa proeminenti precum Campbell.

Am remarcat ca acest subiect a fost dezbatut in Romania. Taxele de proprietate sunt mult mai mari ca procent de PIB (ca sa nu mai vorbim de modul absolut) decat la noi si m-am gandit ca experienta mea personala ar putea fi interesanta in discutie. Desigur, eu vorbesc despre Toronto.

Recent, zoso publica un videoclip al Antenelor cu ieseni calcandu-se in picioare pentru produse de bricolaj la oferta. Eu revad un clip despre care am scris acum cativa ani. Cel vechi e cu saraci la Walmart.

Vorbesc de tare mult timp despre o dezbatere cu si despre proprietatea intelectuala si copira(i)tul la romani. O astfel de dezbatere a fost gazduita si de Economist in sectiunea lor de dezbateri si-a iesit tare faina, dar a avut loc mai putin in blogo.ro-oaie. In acest prim articol voi mentiona cateva din argumentele vehiculate in aceasta dezbatere si voi incerca sa evit cateva “cai gresite”.

Cateva aprecieri recente, atat pozitive cat si negative, m-au determinat sa reconsider directia acestui blog. In noul an imi voi redistribui atentia si efortul, alocand altor bloguri o pondere mai mare. Inainte sa plangi, da-mi voie sa-ti explic de ce-i asta un lucru bun.

Exista o gramada de idei false care persista in pofida statisticilor, datelor stiintifice accesibile tuturor. Cum am promis, atac aici un subiect mai greu de-nghitit care taman d-aia ma atrage.

In prima parte i-am prezentat pe prezidentiabili cu poze si clipuri. Aici prezentam detalii si chestii care nu-s importante pentru omul fara timp.
