I probably won’t be voting this year. I’m telling you about my failed attempt to register for “vote by correspondence” or “votul prin corespondenta” as well as my passport application.

I have, in the past, dedicated ample space and time to the Romanian elections. Lately, I’m starting to get a feeling of futility. It’s a widespread disease.

There was a time when women were dreaming of a “knight in shining armour” but a steady decline in the prestige of shiny things coupled with a long set of economic crises have put an end to those romantic times. Today women seem to want a man who’ll pay and they rely on the State for protection and Facebook and/or Twitter for DIY reputation management (aka PR). A recent article on dating and paying for it (ctch-tspr) reopened a long-forgotten subject, a subject I haven't attacked in a while (since between 12 and 12-B, to be exact), despite a desire and even a plan to do so.

Finland, the country who is light years ahead of Romania in education, is moving away from structured learning and a Romanian Senator opines that it's BS, which, in our view, makes him a 'zambaccian' or a person who is incapable to understand his mistakes, nevermind assume them, a person whose mindset prevents them from accepting new, revolutionary ideas.

I’ve two heavy things on my mind right now, and unlike WhatsApp frustrations, I don't think I'll be able to balance them with some happier, care-free thoughts. The second part of the title was inspired by a comment left by Blegoo about a year ago.

Not only did Klaus Iohannis manage to snatch victory from the claws of the Red Menace, but he did so by a huge, devastating margin AND on the surge in voter participation not only in the diaspora, but also in our birthplace. It’s a November Christmas miracle! 

I recently read a longer article on Bloomberg about Romania and its lagging infrastructure - more specifically, roads and highways. Much to my surprise, all that I was reading on other blogs (or hearing from my relatives) was described and explained as facts. (blmbrg-cows) 

I have been staying away from the news of the moment, but this recent tragedy hits extremely close to home, whichever way a member of the Toronto Romanian diaspora (including myself) chooses to define that notion.

Aflu dintr-un recent articol in Daily Mail ca britanicii sunt pe cale sa interzica sau sa restrictioneze accesul doctorilor si asistentelor medicale din Romania la piata muncii, urmand exemplul spaniol, francez si italian, violand spiritul normelor UE.

Nelinistitu' du Adrian Voicu imi spunea in articolul precedent ca noi diasporenii ii putem comanda cartea de la diverse stabilimente onlain. M-am gandit sa-ncerc sa fac asta cu cartea lui si sa vad cam care-ar fi preturile.

Rar se mai intampla zilele astea sa primesc spam care sa treaca de filtrele gmail. Cand se-ntampla, e prilej de sarbatoare. Sa analizam, asadar.

Va voi arata cateva din prostiile pe care le primesc. Si urez tuturor persoanelor care se considera astfel La Multi Ani de ziua comunista a femeii, 8 Martie!

Apropo de Gugu-ro-manii VII: as putea sa-l scriu intreg in introducere. Ar fi asa, ca o minimalizare a minimalismului..

Am primit acum cateva zile un raspuns de la un prof de fizica (Iosif Sever Georgescu) ce apare intr-unul din articolele mele mai vechi, publicat initial de Cracanel. O fi el sau o fi fi-s'u?

Am avut recent ocazia sa stau de vorba c-o piarista. Contrar asteptarilor, discutia a avut loc in limitele gramaticii si-a bunului simt. Nu este un interviu amuzant si n-o iau la michteau. Pur si simplu imi astampar curiozitatea – am vrut sa vad cine, cum si de ce face PiaR.

Stiu, n-am scris demult, dar am o scuza. I-am trimis USB DVB-T stick-ul lui Cartim. Desigur, ar mai fi si alte scuze, dar nu-s taman relevante pentru acest blog.

Raspunsul scurt este ca n-are cum sa nu suga atat timp cat cititorii si-o baga. Mai precis, nu poti sa fii glorios, cat timp audienta ta este inexistenta, cel putin la nivel cerebral. Sa privim un exemplu din hotnews.

In prima parte i-am prezentat pe prezidentiabili cu poze si clipuri. Aici prezentam detalii si chestii care nu-s importante pentru omul fara timp.
