Recently, on the WhatsApp group I share with my former classmates, one of us posted an article about Soros. I don’t know exactly why he did so – there’s a small chance he shared it because it’s such a dumb article that it’s funny, but this is a good opportunity to look at the mythology created around the boogeyman Soros. As it happens, this article would be best written in Romanian, as anyone capable to follow an article in English has already made up her mind, which is why a summary in Romanian will soon follow.

I’m not a nationalist and though I wish my Romanian friends “La Multi Ani” for our national holiday, a small part of me is uneasy, because nationalism means association with people who share your ethnic background, some good, some bad, but in our case (and, of course, excepting those I know personally), mostly bad.

Were the two girls, of each at least one lives in London and was traveling back home, subject to unwarranted aggression, or were they able to transform their own arrest into a long-winded drama, at the expense of the image and reputation of the Romanian Police?

Though it may be unfair to extend the failure of the Romanian National Press Agency (Agerpres) and the Romanian External Affairs Ministry to an entire nation, let us not forget that part of their job is to represent the country. The recent faux-pas, confusing the French contours with the German one in a one-print commemorative brochure is, unfortunately, indicative of the dilettantism that has taken over the Romanian government.

I have a ton of things to do so that I can leave. However, part of the preparation is to look through local stuff and one such thing is this. The theft of a tablet in a small town, used subsequently to publish photos of the new owner, is a good opportunity to explore questions about policing, bias, antiziganism / racism and herd mentality.

This having been started as a Romanian blog, I first wrote what to do in Amsterdam when you’re alive in Romanian, with a friend, as an exquisite corpse. Recently, I met yet another Dutch girl who gave me more than one smile, so in return, I figured I'd give the world the translated version.

Here we are, after vol II with Blogger / Blogspot and vol III with Wordpress.com, at the final installment of our incursion into similarly ranked blogs.

Yet another childhood photo is stirring up memories. This time is with colleagues and friends, rather than teachers.

I'm not sure how and why I ended up watching two movies in one evening, but I did. Maybe it was a need to procrastinate, maybe it was the "monster storm" that shut down New York and was raging outside.

There was a time when I was a virgin (well, I still am, but on my blog I like to pretend otherwise, maybe I’ll hook up with one of the supermodels with adventurous lives who read it). Imboldit de intrebari cum ar fi cea a Dianei Coman, am decis sa sparg tacerea asternuta pe acest blog cu o stire din UK. Aflu dintr-un recent articol in Daily Mail ca britanicii sunt pe cale sa interzica sau sa restrictioneze accesul doctorilor si asistentelor medicale din Romania la piata muncii, urmand exemplul spaniol, francez si italian, violand spiritul normelor UE.

Scurt, cateva confirmari – ca sa zic asa – ale unor articole si idei crete din trecut. E vorba de creierul mamelor, severitatea pedepselor si homosexualii indulapati. (“Told ye” inseamna “pai nu ti-am spus?!”).

Am primit recent o fotografie prin email, autorul nespunandu-mi clar de unde-i. Am identificat-o, totusi: e de pe un blog al carui nume a ajuns intr-un articol de efect.

Incepusem sa zic chestii cu maritis, insuratoare, alea. Si-acum o zi sau doua vorbeam despre asta si multe altele cu un var. Care se lauda ca-i mult mai batran decat stiam eu.

Scriam nu demult despre scarta-scarta pe sticla ce se plang azi de cenzura. Nu-i o idee rea sa-i (re)descoperim pe cei ce-au fost cenzurati in trecut.

A venit iar vremea poeziei de marti. Dupa ce am trecut prin E E Cummings, Wordsworth si Catullus, ne-aplecam catre anii inceputurilor anii 1800 anii cu floricele si inocenta virtuoasa.

Am o pofta nebuna sa va povestesc ceva despre Malcolm McDowell. Voi incepe insa cu Kubrick, in noul atac al clo-tlonilor.
