Cateva stiri despre ce se mai intampla p-aici si nu numai. Sunt multe si-mbarligate, si-s cam toate din presa streina. Se da si bere!

Unlike most of my Romanian friends, who are angered by the details of the 112/police (EMS) response to Alexandra Macesanu’s increasingly desperate calls, I am far more upset by police colonel, university professor and forensic psychologist Tudorel Badea Butoi-Severin and the inconsequential censure by CNCD following his deeply offensive, misogynistic, victim-blaming comments. I believe that the hostility and inadequacy of the police response is rooted in the attitude that Prof Butoi has expressed and this bigotry is the root cause of police inaction and incompetence.

The video of Dr Simona Tibu's arrest and assault has recently been released (cbc-video), after a protracted legal battle. What is debatable is to what extent is this a case of police brutality / use of unnecessary and excessive force, or white female entitlement.

Poti traduce ce citesti pe blogul meu in 20 de limbi apasand pe steagul respectiv. Poze superbe, cum sa-nnebunesti nebunii, Orwell redivivus, si europenii se imbata sa si-o traga... pun pariu ca nu stiai asta! :)

I have recently read an opinion by some “journo” in a tabloid on how anonymous SIM cards should be sold no more (i.e., make them available only to those producing ID). I argue that the writing privileges of this person should be suspended.

Whenever I talk to Romanians who want to come to Canada and I answer questions, I always end up being a bit upset. I find that people ask me too many simple questions they could answer themselves with Google and too few of the “important” questions. Maybe there’s a guru hiding inside of me, and here’s where I set him free.

I am EXTATIC!!!! N-am auzit de ea inainte sa fi castigat premiul Nobel, cum n-auzisem nici de francezul care a castigat in 2008, dar cu cat citesc mai mult, cu atat ma excit mai tare! I recently read a longer article on Bloomberg about Romania and its lagging infrastructure - more specifically, roads and highways. Much to my surprise, all that I was reading on other blogs (or hearing from my relatives) was described and explained as facts. (blmbrg-cows) 

A relatively recent tragic murder and Munchausen by proxy case is a pretext to look at how Romani / Gypsy / Roma people are perceived, the guilt of their children and mob mentality.

It's a sad day for Ioan Pop, his family, and Romanian Christian Orthodoxy in general, but on the bright side, the abused women are finally getting some closure and Ioan Pop won’t have a chance to repeat his weird brand of sexual religiosity. Am remarcat ca acest subiect a fost dezbatut in Romania. Taxele de proprietate sunt mult mai mari ca procent de PIB (ca sa nu mai vorbim de modul absolut) decat la noi si m-am gandit ca experienta mea personala ar putea fi interesanta in discutie. Desigur, eu vorbesc despre Toronto.

Desi oficial oamenii care isi cumpara satelit o fac pentru FTA, in realitate investitia si timpul consumat nu prea au sens pentru cateva programe gratis. Motivul real, nedeclarat, este asa-zisa piratare a programelor care fie sunt interzise / inaccesibile pe teritoriul canadian, fie pot fi obtinute numai prin Bell / Starchoice dar costa bani. Iata o scurta analiza a cadrului legal din Canada in care se desfasoara aceasta activitate cu citate din wikipedia si din forumurile romanesti.
