Astazi incepe Festivalul International al Filmului din Toronto si eu inca n-am apucat sa decid ce filme vreau sa vad. Dar, in traditia expertilor de internet, va voi spune ce filme vor altii sa vada.

There was a time when talking about TIFF meant an image. Then, starting around 1975, it meant the Toronto International Film Festival. Then Romania thought that copying this name is OK, and now I find that I have to differentiate between tiff.ro and tiff.net. Here we are simply listing the Romanian movies at TIFF.net (in Toronto).

I just learned of two significant Romanian movie events in Toronto: Porumboiu's Whistlers is having its (wide?) release and TIFF a "survey" of 50 years of Romanian Cinema.

I haven’t been able to find many movies with by Romanians or about Romanians at TIFF 19 (Toronto International Film Festival) I thought I mention them before the Festival is over.

Mi-a atras atentia un interviu cu “regizorul minune al tinerei generatii”, si daca tot am intrat in arte teatrale si cinematografice, hai sa ne uitam si la RObotzii la TIFF si moartea lui Papan.

Am vazut recent, la TIFF '09, doua filme cu politisti - Police, Adj. al lui Porumboiu si unul rusesc. Si gandul mi-a fugit la doua articole recent citite, unul in Catavencu, celalalt in Alphablog. Ce poate fi mai existential decat aceste doua subiecte? Tratarea lor in doua filme superbe, filme care mi-au marcat dezvoltarea psiho-sexuala.

Much to my surprise, a movie featuring Elisabeth Hurley and filmed entirely partly in Romania has no review that I can find.

About a week ago I watched a number of TV series and movies worth discussing. One of them was about the Brits and the war, and it is somehow connected, in my mind, to UKIP and Farage.

Un interviu de-al lui Patapievici cu Porumboiu mi-a trezit acest articol din amintirea ancestrala. Ma aplec si eu cu aplomb si lipsa de respect asupra "revolutiei" sau ce-o fi fost. Chiar, ce-o fi fost?

Dincolo de Festivalul Filmului Romanesc din Toronto, se-ntampla tot felu’ de chestii in lumea filmului. Inclusiv Lars von Trier batand campii.

I recently watched a with a rather long title (Cand se lasa seara in Bucuresti sau Metabolism) movie at TIFF13 and I thought I share my views with you. The article is unfinished, but I feel so sick, I might have a brain-wasting disease and I’d better publish it while I still can.
