Imi place Google, chiar daca mi-au suspendat contul AdSense fara explicatie, ca apoi sa mi-l reinstaureze fara sa-si ceara scuze. Probabil ca mi-ar place si mai mult dac-as fi cumparat stock la IPO, dar mi s-a parut overpriced si am asteptat o corectie... care nu a mai venit. But it's all good.

Este interesant de vazut cat de repede se raspandeste o stire in blogosfera romaneasca. La ora scrierii acestui articol, Google Blogsearch listeaza 7 pagini de rezultate despre Cuil.com si pana cand citesti tu, vor sari de zece. Un prilej excelent sa ne uitam la motoarele de cautare si cum au evoluat.

This blog has a Romanian Diaspora focus, so it’s only natural to go through the diaspora news. But our diaspora is everywhere (much like protochronist Dacians), and some have even returned, while some feel “exiled” in their own country, so we’re not going to discriminate. Perusing the Romanian press, everything is shocking and all sources of info seem to be tabloids. Perhaps time is ripe for an overview of all the crap that’s overflowing.

I’ve just read a piece of news that angered me a great deal as it smelled fake, but as I looked into it, I did not find the clear rebuttal I expected. It’s based on an obscure survey question that had not been reported in the media and now is fodder for fake news sites. The title is based on an 80s Italian song which roughly means “rogue nostalgia”, combined with the Romanian spelling of the word that stands for “rogue”, which, in the latter language stands for an insult, meaning “scoundrel, villain, miscreant”. 

Desi state vecine si oarecum pretene, Canada si Statele se ciocnesc din cand in cand cap in cap. In ultima vreme a fost numai un razboi al vorbelor, dar ultima data cand s-au suparat Canadienii pe americani, i-au batut de le-a sunat apa-n cap, i-au fugarit pan-la Washington, unde au dat foc Casei Albe, transformand-o probabil in Casa Cenusie, sau, vorba poetului, de Scrum.

Poti traduce ce citesti pe blogul meu in 20 de limbi apasand pe steagul respectiv. Poze superbe, cum sa-nnebunesti nebunii, Orwell redivivus, si europenii se imbata sa si-o traga... pun pariu ca nu stiai asta! :)

Cateva stiri despre ce se mai intampla p-aici si nu numai. Sunt multe si-mbarligate, si-s cam toate din presa streina. Se da si bere!

Recent a aparut in blogosfera romaneasca un articol mai demult publicat. Dar bloggerul care l-a dezgropat (Arhi) l-a tradus intr-un stil mai mult vesel (gay) decat informativ. Si-n traducere, ai devenit gay daca ai inelarul mai mic, ceea ce nu-i pe de-a-ntregul adevarat.

In aceasta prima parte ne-aplecam mai mult asupra TVR decat a ctp-ului. Pe-acesta din urma il luam in poala in partea a II-a, da’ nu-i bai, fiin’ca e scris undeva ca cei din urma vor fi, cumva, cei dintai.

This is an (Austro?-)German movie shortlisted for the Foreign Oscar and filmed in Bucharest. It’s great and rated 7.6 on IMDB, with a Metascore of 93. It is also remarkably warm and positive toward Romania.

I3.ro, un site de bloguri, a fost spart. N-am inteles niciodata de ce unii considera ca site-uri cum ar fi i3.ro ar fi bune sa pornesti un blog. Presupun ca se considera ca ar fi mai usor sa pornesti o comunitate in jurul blogului tau. Nu simtz asta eu, dar asa o fi. Iata ca i3 (1) a fost "spart" si tot azi poze cu mult-asteptatul aifuon 3G si-au facut aparitia (2).

I keep reading about Romanian Police incompetence and I can tell you that I’ve seen far worse here in Toronto. I learned about former cop and current “forensic psychologist” Butoi telling us why a living girl’s carbonized remains ended up in a barrel (cf Romanian “butoi”). And beyond all these facts, inadequacies and incompetence, the question we want to answer even though we know we can’t is why?

It's a sad day for Ioan Pop, his family, and Romanian Christian Orthodoxy in general, but on the bright side, the abused women are finally getting some closure and Ioan Pop won’t have a chance to repeat his weird brand of sexual religiosity. As usual, I am not content with only reporting on the news; I have a few other things to say.

De cate ori se anunta o noua runda de voturi pentru Constitutie, este bine stiut ca e imposibil ca toate cele 27 de tari s-o aprobe. Motivele respingerii au mai putin de a face cu textul Constitutiei in sine cat cu nemultumirea electoratului cu status quo-ul.

Stateam vineri de vorba cu niste amici si chestiuni importante la ordinea zilei inceput-au sa ma framante. Despre romanismul mitocan am tot vorbit si eu si altii, dar oare nu exista probleme si cu politetea debordanta?

I’m becoming a Nastase hater. Can’t this guy just disappear from news altogether, or realize that we’re no longer in the 50s and the 70s are over?!
