Nu am dat bacul in Romania fiindca am parasit tara in clasa XI-a. Am dat insa examenul de admitere la Balcescu - a devenit ulterior Sf. Sava si am fost ultima generatie care a dat examenul de treapta a II-a. Am fost asadar curios care au fost cerintele de examen si care au fost rezultatele..

Am fost incantat pana peste poate cand mi s-a propus sa exprim o opinie intr-un efort colaborativ. As putea spune chiar ca am dat din coate, pana la dureri de falange, ca sa meet editorial deadline. Iata, mai departe, ce-a iesit.

There are two subjects that seem to dominate the Romanian public sphere (I would say blogo.ro-oaie, but that's defunct): the religion choice in schools and the New York Times Op-Ed on corruption in Romania. I’m very tempted to make a nice hot stew out of both, but I’ll try to keep each to its own article.

I sporadically come across Dan Alexe's writings. He's a smart dude, he's courageous, and he seems to constantly be bullying "protocronists / dacologists" whom he calls "dacopaths" ("dacopati" cf Romanian original, a term most likely inspired by the derisive and pejorative “psychopaths”). Daca ai obiceiul sa ma citesti, iti amintesti poate de articolul in care descriam situatiile de mita din imigratie, ca raspuns la interviul cu o prietena unde ea imi spunea ca nu exista spaga in Canada. Ei bine, judecatorul cu pricina a fost gasit vinovat de "tradarea increderii" si "luare de mita".

Desi state vecine si oarecum pretene, Canada si Statele se ciocnesc din cand in cand cap in cap. In ultima vreme a fost numai un razboi al vorbelor, dar ultima data cand s-au suparat Canadienii pe americani, i-au batut de le-a sunat apa-n cap, i-au fugarit pan-la Washington, unde au dat foc Casei Albe, transformand-o probabil in Casa Cenusie, sau, vorba poetului, de Scrum.

Ce poate fi mai existential decat aceste doua subiecte? Tratarea lor in doua filme superbe, filme care mi-au marcat dezvoltarea psiho-sexuala.

Au tot fo' publicate rezultatele cercetarii unei canadiene (femeie, nu geaca) si noi barbatii tot nu pricepem ce zice. Nici canadian(c)a, nici femeile in general. De multe ori avem impresia ca ele zic una si umezesc alta. Asa c-am invitat-o pe Meredith Chivers sa explice.
