The recent debate of Romanian politics in the European Parliament was the grotesque conclusion to this summer of our disco tent.

Am aflat recent despre un test care ar deduce daca esti barbat sau femeie pe baza preferintelor tale. Asta-i genul de test care-i oripileaza pe unii (sau unele). Eu sunt insa curios sa identific diferentele. Totusi, nu vei gasi aici un test similar celui cu dreapta vs stanga.

"Little birds" is the English mot-a-mot translation of bijboace, clampacioace, fofoloance. Just the other day, a Latvian friend visited me and brought me as a gift some candy from her native country. And as she explained laughing and blushing, the candy name had a dual meaning.

M-a deranjat intotdeauna rasismul la romani si argumentele gen "hai sa-i belim pe tigani, ca si altii au facut la fel". Cand ma pronunt impotriva acestor atitudini, o fac nu pentru ca altii n-au facut la fel, ci taman d-aia. Continui deci sa descriu politicile discriminatorii din trecutul Lumii Noi.

Am facut prostia sa trimit unor prieteni un link catre un articol de-al lui Radu de Craciun, gandindu-ma ca aberatiile lui vor fi oarecum amuzante. Citind apoi ce-am trimis, am remarcat ca se-apropia teribil de intim de realitate, nascand complicatii.

N/O stands for Night Out, but you can read it as "NO jazz for the masses" since jazz will never have the same audience and mass appeal as manele, for instance. I suspect that with jazz, you never quite know what to expect (even with a band or soloist you have heard before), whereas manele and other more “popular” genres deliver a more consistent listener / dancer experience.

Taman am aflat ca am castigat (sau, mai degraba, era cat pe ce ~) un neasteptat premiu in concursul initiat de Lucia Verona. Inainte de a-ti spune, ia gandeste-te si zi-mi ce premiu crezi c-am luat (funny blogger, cum m-a nominat Cartim, sau ce?) :)

This could very well be a paid post, but it's not (unless you consider a free concert and a couple of Pepsi bottles as 'payment'). I was just passing by their tent and the music caught my ear; I enjoyed it while watching a cover of Talking Heads (Psycho Killer). All in all, a great opportunity to reminisce on what Pepsi meant in my childhood.

There was a time when talking about TIFF meant an image. Then, starting around 1975, it meant the Toronto International Film Festival. Then Romania thought that copying this name is OK, and now I find that I have to differentiate between tiff.ro and tiff.net. Here we are simply listing the Romanian movies at TIFF.net (in Toronto).

I’ve watched (a bit late) @Simona_Halep’s win @RolandGarros and I think it’s enough of a milestone to come out of my springbernation and tell you about it.
