The recent debate of Romanian politics in the European Parliament was the grotesque conclusion to this summer of our disco tent.

Ever since I have decided to focus on English language blogs, I find every now and then news about Romania that beg to be commented. I never have enough time to do so, but today, as I read about the chewing gum thieves, I shall make an exception.

Am incercat sa citesc si cateva bloguri, dar opinia predominanta este ca trebuie sa votam nul fiindca asa, vezi Doamne, i-am pedepsi pe politicieni. Dupa cum i-am spus si lui Arhi, in comparatie cu ideea de a nu vota sau a vota nul, ideea de a-ti bea propria urina este geniala.

In viralul lor de 1 Aprilie, Qualcomm au o idee mareata (al doilea clip din lista): combinarea unor specii de prada pentru a controla proliferarea porumbeilor. S-ar zice ca Gugal au ingemanat si ei doua produse cu rezultate nu tocmai spectaculare. Nici macar spectaculoase.

Cu multe secole in urma incepusem sa comentez scrisoarea unui roman din USA catre casa. In primul episod am vorbit despre San Francisco si alte generalitati, in al doilea despre telefonie, iar aici vom vorbi despre finante si carduri.

Desi oficial oamenii care isi cumpara satelit o fac pentru FTA, in realitate investitia si timpul consumat nu prea au sens pentru cateva programe gratis. Motivul real, nedeclarat, este asa-zisa piratare a programelor care fie sunt interzise / inaccesibile pe teritoriul canadian, fie pot fi obtinute numai prin Bell / Starchoice dar costa bani. Iata o scurta analiza a cadrului legal din Canada in care se desfasoara aceasta activitate cu citate din wikipedia si din forumurile romanesti.

In restul lumii, 1 Iunie inseamna ziua copilului. Aici in Toronto, anul acesta 1 Iunie marcheaza niste evenimente mai importante decat in alti ani, cum ar fi noi reguli pentru trecerea frontierei in USA si deschidera adoptiilor.

I have recently read an opinion by some “journo” in a tabloid on how anonymous SIM cards should be sold no more (i.e., make them available only to those producing ID). I argue that the writing privileges of this person should be suspended.

This blog has a Romanian Diaspora focus, so it’s only natural to go through the diaspora news. But our diaspora is everywhere (much like protochronist Dacians), and some have even returned, while some feel “exiled” in their own country, so we’re not going to discriminate. A while back I had an overseas guest misbehaving. I had invited her for a longer stay in Canada but it turned out she had difficulties living without regular fights. I offered to make a reservation at a hostel and cover her costs at a hostel for the rest of her stay but she refused and I was eventually bribed to give in due to my membership affiliation.

Nush ce-mi veni c-am nascocit un nou concurs. De fapt, stiu: cartim si-a primit premiul si taman mi-am vandut un lawnmower mai vechi, intr-o intreaga peripetie.

Am primit recent o leapsa de la puttycat, cu ce sau cum mi-a fost furat si mi-a ramas in minte. Trec peste evidenta tenta materialista a lepsei - e mai important ce ramane-n minte, sau ce poti tine-n palma? Raspunsul nu conteaza, a fost o vreme cand am trait si eu in foame.
